Medical aesthetics is a unique specialty calling for comprehensive assessment to provide individualistic treatment plans for every client. Though the focus is often on dermatology, or skin issues, there are many conditions that can be treated with medical aesthetics or in combination with other therapies. As a Nurse Practitioner, I am trained to assess, diagnose, and treat all ages of the family according to their unique needs. Being able to prescribe medications or specific treatments allows the opportunity to not only treat effectively, but use your insurance coverage when authorized.
I prescribe specific medications for conditions that warrant their use. Acne, for example, can be treated with a combination of antibiotics, steroid injections into cystic lesions, medical grade skin care products, and medical aesthetic treatments like Morpeus8 and Lumecca. When acne’s cause is hormonal, there are a number of medications that can be used to ensure your body is not over-producing certain acne-causing hormones and then we can work to heal the skin with other therapies. Botox Therapeutic is the prescribed version used for treating migraine, bruxism, TMJ dysfunction, and hyperhidrosis. It can even be used to carefully shrink excessive scarring. Newer medications are available to support weight loss and may be used when appropriate.
Due to its ability to remodel skin and tissue by stimulating collagen production at various dermal depths, Morpheus8 is an excellent modality to use in helping the appearance of acne scarring, other surgical or injury scars, and stretch marks. Used in conjunction with Botox Therapeutic, it can essentially eliminate hyperhidrosis and odor issues by targeting the sweat and odor glands under the arms.
Hyperpigmentation caused by acne or other scarring, redness from rosacea, or the spider-like veins of telangiectasias can be addressed with a series of Lumecca IPL. Treatment protocols will always be adjusted for your skin type, issue, and goals, ensuring realistic expectations of results are discussed at every step along the way.
By harnessing your own body’s exosomes, growth factors, and other proteins, PRP helps to treat thinning hair in both men and women, can be used in conjunction with microneedling treatments to affect scarring and lichen sclerosus, and can treat Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause symptoms such as decreased sensation, dryness, and vaginal atrophy.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be used to support facial structure balance such as in non-surgical rhinoplasty. Biostimulatory fillers like Bellafill or Sculptra are used to stimulate collagen production and aid in acne scar repair, or deep dermal support for excessive laxity.
No matter your concern, remember that combination therapies work synergistically to reach the realistic results you are looking for.
